Needing the fresh air.

All Nature is a pillared temple where, At times, live columns mutter words unclear, Forests of symbols watch Man pass, and peer With intimate glance and a familiar air.

Charles Baudelaire

I have been sick this entire week after a month bit of road tripping around the Eastern Cape with my favorite ally Dylan Trilby Weyer. Its a terrible thing having all the energy and strength to go where you please and do as you like, and then some selfish little pathogen guy comes and puts you on your back for a week. Its good though as it has given me time to think, read and watch 'River Cottage'. Today I had had enough of my room, so I cruised out of town for some air, wine and a sunset with a mate. It was well good! Its funny though cause I could have just as easily stayed home and done nothing. But I would not have got that lovely fresh air and been able to see this old church in this captivating copper light. This is something I must think about more often.

Don't take your body for granted, in fact take every opportunity to use it in every healthy way possible.

Times in Mozambique

"The farther we went the fewer the Indians who spoke Spanish, and soon Arguto's linguistic capacities were as useless as our own. A cluster of huts lay here and there up in the mountains; fewer and fewer were built of clay, while more and more were made of twigs and and dry grass. Both huts and the sun-browned wrinkled-faced people seemed to have grown up out of the earth itself, from baking effect of the mountain sun of the Andes' rock walls."

Thor Heyerdahl -THE KON-TIKI EXPEDITION

Myself and my good friend Shaun Walton recently went for a meander up the sandy roads of Mozambique to where we climbed a 246-runged ladder up into some form of colossal tower. From this place I not only felt as though I lacked the correct volume of hemoglobin in my brain, but also felt full and overwhelmed. We could see for kilometers in all directions and the contrast of blue ocean and sky, green palm and coastal forests with dusty shuffling foot paths was, to say the very least, nice.

Everyone should go to Mozambique to swim, eat, buy weird local craft, get lots of sun then sip cold local beer to the magmatic sunset.

Humble beginnings ...

"The dominant primordial beast was strong in Buck, and under the fierce conditions of trail life it grew and grew. Yet it was a secret growth. His newborn cunning gave him poise and control."

Jack London - THE CALL OF THE WILD

I am not sure what I want this to be but I feel like I want to express and show and point and let others, who are looking, see. I have been blessed and find myself constantly overwhelmed and breathless with the beauty surrounding me. I want the ones I love to have this blessing too, or to even just have a taste of what I am lucky enough to gulp down almost daily. This will be a place where I will try to humbly, carefully and honestly express what is inside when I see what is around outside. I'm not claiming to be a great writer and luckily photos will assist me in expression. I don't want to come across as though I'm living a better life than other people, but simply want to bless others if I can.
